Liege Waffles: A New Experience

Liege Waffles: A New Experience

Most Americans are familiar with only one kind of waffle, the Belgian waffle many restaurants serve at breakfast. In certain parts of the country, you’ll find popular variations of when and how the waffle is served, as in the case of the world renowned Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. This is about as far as we typically go with a waffle–drenched in butter and maple syrup and served with another favorite item.

When I first learned of Augustin’s Waffles, it was a bit of an education for me. I’m a California raised girl, surviving on fast food and prepackaged meals for my busy lifestyle. I only thought of waffles in one way and to me they were supposed to look like Eggo waffles, slim and if we’d made them on our waffle maker, burnt.

Fortunately, an education from a good friend of mine allowed me to know what a real Belgian waffle was to look and taste like, when it could be served, and what pairings would work with them. She arranged for me to try Augustin’s prepackaged waffles a few vanilla and the others chocolate covered. How would they stand up?

I LOVED THEM! As a freelancer, work piles up and there’s oftentimes that I don’t get a chance to stop to prepare a meal or to even leave and grab something. The Augustin’s waffle was just what I needed. I popped it into the microwave for a few seconds and went to eating. It needed nothing, no sugar, butter, syrup or other sweeteners. It served to be a quick fix to my food dilemma.

Another thing I liked was that they came prepackaged because it made them portable. On a morning dash, two waffles in the purse became a quick meal that I shared with my mom on the go. Her verdict, “These are GOOD.” We have a winner! Fast, delicious, to be eaten anytime, I think Augustin’s is going to be a national staple!
